fair weather and fowl
Thankfully we’ve had some sun returning. There was gorgeous rainbow over the field last week. My photo doesn’t capture how incredible it was in the moment, of course, but maybe you can imagine the drama — rain ending, sun coming out, late evening quiet….

Our farm animal menagerie has continued to expand as some Muscovy ducklings (6-week-old siblings) moved in this week. They’re entertaining to watch as they move around outside — all three stick close together and appear cautious but also very interested in exploring. And they seem to have an affinity for the chickens (apparently they were born on a farm with chickens).

On the topic of farming — I read an interesting and inspiring article in the NY Times magazine (online) this week:

It’s about an urban farmer in Milwaukee doing amazing things with a small amount of space and tons of community involvement.
